When someone mentions Wendy’s, most people think of a flame broiled burger, fries, and a Frosty. Today, just in time to kick off football season, Wendy’s announced three surprising new additions to their Made to Crave lineup — and it’s a huge score for hungry fans!

Wendy’s is now upping their game to include the Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger, Loaded Nacho Chicken Sandwich, and Queso Fries. They are calling it a total flavor touchdown!

The Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger stars the classic, fresh-never-frozen square patty topped with melty cheese, roasted poblano queso, spicy corn and tortilla strips and crowned with a spicy chipotle sauce, lettuce tomato. The extra point of this culinary creations is that it all comes between a jalapeno cheddar bun. Score!

For those who support ‘team chicken,’ try the Loaded Nacho Chicken Sandwich which substitutes the beef patty with chicken for an all-out blitz of flavor.

“At Wendy’s, we are dedicated to creating exceptional, craveable experiences for our passionate fans, and our talented culinary team continues to deliver time and time again with out stacked Made to Crave roster,” said Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company in a recent press release. “The new Loaded Nacho Cheeseburger pays homage to two American tailgating classics — cheeseburgers and nachos — and will have fans leaving the other guys behind and making the transfer to Wendy’s this season.”

Wendy’s rounds out their new menu items with another rush of flavor. Queso Fries is the all-star in the realm of typical cheese fries. Wendy’s natural-cut fries are smothered with roasted poblano queso and cheddar cheese designed to take your tastebuds on a journey to the endzone.

“We’re always looking to push the envelope with our signature Hot and Crispy Fries to give our fans layers of delicious flavors combined with the crispiness you won’t find anywhere else,” said John Li, Global Vice President of Culinary Innovation at The Wendy’s Company. “Our new Queso Fries are the perfect crispy complement to our Loaded Nacho Sandwich, delivering fans a classic tailgating experience, bite after bite.”

Fun fact #1: Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, was a high school dropout. He earned his GED at the age of 61.

Fun fact #2: When Wendy’s opened in 1969, there were only 5 menu items. Those same 5 items are still on the menu today: hamburgers, fries, chili, soft drinks, and the famous Frosty.

Fun fact #3: Who can forget Clara Peller, Wendy’s most famous spokesperson who asked, “Where’s the beef?” Clara was born in Russia in 1902 and immigrated to the United States as a child. She married a jeweler and had two children. She worked as a manicurist for 35 years. In the early 1980s she was in a commercial, posing as a manicurist. The agency signed her on as an actress. When she landed the 1984 ad campaign, she was 81 years old. Her newfound fame landed her an appearance on Saturday Night Live and Wrestle Mania 2.

How do you feel about Wendy’s new menu offerings? Would you call it a win? I’d love to read your opinions in the comments!
