Pets are beloved furry family members. Interest in pet nutrition is gaining momentum and becoming mainstream as people become increasingly conscious of the link between diet and longevity.
But choosing the right nutrition plan for your dog or cat can be confusing. Now, Petco and Freshpet have announced they are partnering to take the guesswork out of providing your pet healthy meals.
As people move toward providing fresh food for their pets, Petco and Freshpet are making it easy to access high-quality options. Freshpet Custom Meals offer fresh, personalized meal plans delivered it to your door.
Freshpet Custom Meals don’t contain preservatives or powdered meat meals. Instead, they use natural chicken, beef, salmon, or eggs along with real fruits and vegetables. All the meals are steam-cooked to retain nutrients and then refrigerated until it reaches the pet parent’s home.
To begin, pet parents can go to Petco’s website and take a short questionnaire. It asks questions like whether you have a dog or cat, weight of pet, whether it is a kitten/puppy or adult, if it has sensitivities, what it loves to eat, and what ingredients you do not want in your pet’s meal. Then, you will receive a feeding recommendation.
Since the food should be stored in the refrigerator, customers can select their preferred window of time the food is delivered. The subscription meal plan starts at $3 per day.
“This exclusive, customized home-delivered product is a breakthrough in the way pet parents can provide their pets with the very best nutrition,” said Amy College, Petco’s Chief Merchandising Officer in a recent press release. “We’re thrilled to partner with Freshpet, the leader in fresh pet food, to bring Freshpet Custom Meals to life through our differentiated, seamless, omnichannel ecosystem, as part of our ongoing commitment to pets’ high-quality nutrition and complete health and wellness.”
“It’s exciting to see the demand for fresh pet food continue to grow,” said Scott Morris, Co-Founder and President of Freshpet. “As shoppers seek healthier, real food for their pets, they’re also looking for solutions that provide added convenience. Our partnership with Petco allows us to deliver on both — creating customized healthy meal plans delivered to consumers’ doorsteps.”
Currently, Freshpet Custom Meals are available in 15 states including Texas, New York, and California. It will be available nationwide later this year. A discount is automatically applied to a customer’s first order.
