It’s hard to be a parent. It’s harder when your son is a suspect in the disappearance of his wife. John Warner is the father-in-law of Dee Ann Warner who has been missing from her Tecumseh, Michigan home since April 25, 2021. John Warner’s son, Dale Warner, is Dee’s husband, and has been under intense scrutiny from media and the community.

Today, I spoke to John Warner, and he said, “I want to stay out of it.”

Yet, he couldn’t help himself. When asked if he had any words to say about his son, Dale Warner, John said, “Well, I’ve growed him right and that’s all I can tell ya.”

When asked if he had contact with Dale and Dee’s minor daughter, he said, “Oh, yeah.” As to Christmas plans, he said, “Well, we’ll have Christmas here like we normally do.”

To confirm, I asked if Dale and his daughter were coming for over for Christmas. He said, “Yes.”

When asked for details about his son being a suspect, John Warner said, “I really don’t want to talk about that.”

When asked if he and Dee were close, he said, “Close enough.”

Dale and Dee were married to other people when they met and had an affair before they divorced their spouses and wed. I asked if John Warner approved of the marriage. He said, “Well, it was a breakup of a marriage, and it’s kind of what is going on in society today. So, I guess that’s what I would say. I don’t want to get involved in anything.”

Randomly, he said, “It’ll happen, whatever’s going to happen. There’s so many things going on right now, it’s a very unfolding situation.”

When prodded about the upcoming legal issues, he said, “It’s totally up to them guys. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all over now, but the other bunches of people think they know everything. So, let them do what they do.”

When asked for clarification, John Warner said, “Well, what happened, happened. I don’t know. Nobody seems to know, so they need to back off on it.”

I asked, “Do you think they should back off on it?”

John Warner replied, “Yeah, yeah, they’ve been through this several times. Why do they keep trying to bring it up?”

I said, “Well, what would you say to people that won’t back off … because Dee is a missing person?”

John Warner said, “Well, she was a different person.”

I asked him to describe her. He said, “That was my daughter-in-law, what more can I say?”

Throughout the interview, a woman was in the background urging him to be quiet. At one point, he told her, “Be quiet.”
