As the weather cools, it’s time to indulge in some favorite autumn pastimes. If cozying up to a good book, enjoying a nice glass of wine or hard cider, good food, and great conversation appeals to you, Cherry Creek Cellars has you covered. Cherry Creek Cellars will hold their first book club meeting Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 7 PM — 9 PM.
“We are excited about starting a book club and people have shown a lot of interest. We’re hoping to have a great turnout,” Stephanie Smith told me. There is no cost to join, and their full tasting room and café menu will be available for purchase.
The first book Cherry Creek Cellars Book Club will discuss is the New York Time Bestseller Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll. The novel, published in 2015, is now a Netflix movie starring Mila Kunis.
The protagonist, Ani FaNelli, was publicly humiliated as a teenager at her prestigious school. No way she can endure something like that again. Ever. Things are different now. She seems to have it all with a wealthy and good-looking fiancé, an enviable career, and a closet full of designer clothes and accessories.
People may see Ani as a callous woman, with her sharp words and fierce ambitions. But they don’t know her tough exterior protects a secret – something personal and painful. If exposed, it could decimate everything she has meticulously worked to achieve.
“After people read the book, we’d like them to bring in some questions for the group,” Stephanie said.
If you’ve never been to a book club meeting, don’t panic. Some of the things to think about are:
· Was there a passage of the book that was especially meaningful to you? Why?
· How did reading the book make you feel? Happy? Sad? Tense?
· Would you recommend the book to others? Why or why not?
· Was there a particular scene that made you pause to reflect or race to get through?
· Would you read another book by this author?
· Many liken Luckiest Girl Alive to Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Is that a fair comparison?
The Cherry Creek Book Club will meet the first Thursday of every month from 7 PM — 9 PM at 11500 Silver Lake Highway in Brooklyn, Michigan. They will decide which book to discuss during the December meeting at the first meeting. Everyone is encouraged to bring suggestions November 3rd.
Are you planning on attending Cherry Creek Cellars’ first book club meeting? If so, what books do you hope to discuss at future meetings?
