Frankenmuth kicks off the month of October in a huge way with Michigan’s Big Country Fest Friday and Saturday, October 1st and 2nd. It takes place in the enormous 28,000-square-foot Harvey Kern Community Pavilion in Heritage Park. If you’re fixing to have a good time this weekend with food, live country music, shopping, and games, slip on a Stetson and join the party!
The Country Fest begins at 5 PM on Friday and Saturday. As the doors open, so does the bar. Try out the Bloody Mary Bar and garnish your cocktail with all the goodies, including olives, pickles, celery, and more! If you prefer microbrews and craft beers, the Country Fest has you covered. They are featuring Frankenmuth Brewery this year. Pilsner, Oktoberfest, Batch 69 (IPA), and Old Detroit (Amber) will be available in a flight or by the glass.
Have you ever wanted to ride a mechanical bull? Now is your chance to get in touch with your “Urban Cowboy!” The bull will be challenging riders both evenings and will be ready to ride at 5 PM. How long will you be able to stay on? If you’re not brave enough to straddle the bull yourself, watching everyone else can be its own entertainment!
If you’ve got the urge to do some boot scootin’ but don’t know how, be sure to arrive by 5:15 PM. Both nights you can get free line dancing lessons! Greg Jajo with In Cahoots Country Dance Club will have you shaking that honky-tonk badonkadonk like a pro in no time!
Once you’ve learned the moves, get ready for some fabulous bands to blow your boots off. On Friday night, Bill Gunther & the Midnight Riders will start jamming at 5:45 PM followed by the Family Traditions Band at 9 PM. Saturday night at 5:45 PM is Rebel Line and Shiatown, with their hard-hitting, modern country sound hits the stage at 9 PM.
Bring a hearty appetite because there will be plenty of vendors selling delicious food and snacks. For all you BBQ lovers, rest assured, Bad Wolf BBQ is back by popular demand!
Many vendors, like The Sturdy Cowgirl, will be selling apparel and jewelry. There will be a Country Fest souvenir booth, a photo booth, and a variety of other vendors to choose from.
If you love playing cornhole, there will be several sets available for open play both evenings. If you’d like to be in the charity tournament Saturday, October 2nd at noon, you can get more information here.
Admission to the Country Fest is $7. While you’re there, don’t forget to enter to win a weekend at Shanty Creek Resort sponsored by 94.5 The Moose!
