Attention wanna-be pirates! Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Great Lakes Pirate Festival in Mackinaw City on June 19, 2021. The festivities are hosted by Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry to kick off the 2021 launch of The Good Fortune pirate ship which will make daily trips to Mackinac Island through September 6th.
Put together your best pirate outfit and meet us at Star Line’s Mackinaw City dock (801 S. Huron Street, Mackinaw City, MI) at noon for food, music, and entertainment the whole family can enjoy. Everyone dressed in pirate gear will receive a free lunch and refreshment. Adult beverages will be for sale from local breweries.
For all you swashbucklers and scallywags, there will be two contests, Dress Like a Pirate and Talk Like a Pirate. Start practicing the lingo now! There are exciting prizes for the winners! Do you have what it takes to win?
Throughout the day, there will be mock sword fights and pirate dancing. You may want to brush up on your pirate trivia.
If you’ve been wanting to learn more about The Good Fortune, you’ll be able to tour the ship and they might even let you swab the deck! In the late afternoon, fun-seekers will board the ship bound for Mackinac Island. While on the high seas, well, more accurately, on the lake, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. There will be water cannons for the kids and the crew will fire the big cannon. Don’t be surprised if the pirate ship gets into a scuffle with a tall ship or two in the area! Jerry Fetty, CEO of Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry, said, “When we arrive, we’re going to do a pirate invasion of Mackinac Island!”

In addition to The Good Fortune’s daily trips to Mackinac Island, Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry will offer two pirate cruises in the evenings. There will be music, pirate dancing, and lots of smiles. Passengers can enjoy the beauty of the Straits of Mackinac and view the Mackinac Bridge from a unique angle as the ship goes underneath. Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase onboard. The 5:45 PM cruise is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. At 7:15 PM there will be a Nauti Pirate Cruise for adults only. Passengers must be 21 years or older with a valid picture ID. Rest assured, there will be plenty fun and plenty of rum!
