Veteran pilot dies after plane crashes near Warrenton

FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. – A plane crash claimed the life of a Bealton man on Sunday.

According to an emailed Virginia State Police (VSP) media release, crews responded to reports of a plane crash on Sunday, December 3 at 3:54 p.m.

The crash was located near the intersection of Midland Road and Ebenezer Church Road, in Midland.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 1975 Beechcraft was attempting to land when it collided with several trees. The impact caused the plane to crash into a field and catch fire.

The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft and died at the scene. He has been identified as Simmie A. Adams, 62.

No one on the ground was injured.

The FAA and NTSB were notified and the crash remains under investigation.
