Chop House coming to Luray
Harrisonburg-based LOCAL Chop & Grill House has purchased the former Moonshadows restaurant in Luray with plans to open for lunch and dinner, beginning in September. Menu offerings are expected to have a southern flair, with vegan and vegetarian options available. A menu from the Harrisonburg location may be viewed HERE. Seed and supply store opening in Luray

Fine dining experience coming to Luray
A new restaurant is coming to 211 West Main Street, Luray, near Court Street. The menu will feature fine wines, crafted cocktails and small plates With a “don’t rush perfection” mindset, Porch and Vine owner Tony Villa indicated the restaurant will open either in the fall of 2023 or the spring of 2024. Downtown event space to open
ZoraJane, a downtown Luray event space is scheduled to open this fall. According to their Facebook page, the business is named after the owners’ mothers, and inspired by the casual elegance of home entertaining. Gym Opening just days away
Steel City Fitness, Luray’s newest gym, is accepting membership sign-ups online and is due to officially open its doors on June 12 and will be open 24-7. To facilitate new member “paperwork” (including ID photos and assignment of key fobs), the gym will offer “Open House” hours June 9, 10 and 11. The return of Flotzies
Flotzies, the popular ice cream stand near Wal-mart Shopping Center, will reopen under new ownership this summer. Owners Jimmy and Arnetta Martz are currently working on employment opportunities, a menu and an opening date. For more information, follow them on Facebook @Flotzie’s.

Restaurant “Country Club” to open
A new restaurant will soon open in Luray, at the site of the former Sonny’s restaurant in Luray. Frozen treats in East Luray

PCSO police scanner online
The Page County Sheriff’s Office police scanner broadcast is currently available via website or app. These broadcasts are made available by individuals and are not streamed in any official capacity by local law enforcement agencies. Several apps are available for FREE use and download. On most apps, a “local” or “nearby” feature will automatically find the PCSO broadcast stream. One free app to try is “Police Scanner Radio” (orange and black icon) which has a “nearby” tab to pick up broadcasts from Page, Shenandoah, Rockingham and Warren Counties.

Fire department lieutenant arrested after stealing drugs from stations

FAIRFAX, Va. – A 17-year-veteran of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFRD) has been arrested for stealing a controlled substance from her place of employment. In early August, during a routine inspection at Station 36, a technician discovered a vial of morphine that showed signs of tampering. The technician compared the vial with other vials, and discovered that the amount of liquid in the compromised vial was much less than in that of the others. There also appeared to be a small hole in the substance kit. The findings were immediately reported to a supervisor.

Residents lead deputies to wanted man; celestial weapon confiscated

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A call from Stafford County residents helped officers find and apprehend a wanted man this past weekend. According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on September 24th. At approximately 4:10 p.m., Sergeant B.U. Demirci and Deputy B.W. Gildea were at the Latin Market (367 Warrenton Road), when they observed someone they knew to be wanted for outstanding capias charges.

LURAY, Va. – A Front Royal woman is behind bars after allegedly selling a fatal dose of methadone. On March 13, 2023, members of the Luray Police Department and EMS were dispatched to Charles Street, in the Fairview area, for a report of a male who was not breathing. He was pronounced deceased by EMS responders on-scene.

The town will be collecting large items for disposal. Items must be placed at the curb no later than 7 AM. NO brush, tires, batteries, computers, televisions, tube lights, or items that contain fluid of any type will be picked up. Refrigerators, freezers, and other similar items must have the doors removed and placed beside the units for disposal. Crews will not pick up hazardous materials or anything that the landfill will not accept. LURAY, Va. – A Shenandoah man has been formally sentenced for a 2022 incident that resulted in the wounding of one victim and the death of another. It all began on July 21, 2022 when the Page County Emergency Communications Center received a call that two people had been shot near 225 Buzzard View Place, a rural road near the town of Shenandoah, about 3.5 miles east of Grove Hill.

The Stanley Volunteer Fire Department answered 39 calls for the month of June, reported Fire Chief Terry A. Pettit. Via an emailed statement, Chief Pettit reported that there were sixteen emergency calls, twelve medical calls and eleven non-emergency calls. The total for the year so far is 302 calls.

Man Arrested for Pointing Gun at Female Motorist in Virginia Road Rage Incident

HAMPTON, Va. — Virginia State Police are reporting that they arrested a man after he pointed what appeared to be a gun at another driver. According to state police, the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 10. A female victim had been driving onto I-64 in the city of Newport News when a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was also trying to merge into interstate traffic. The two exchanged heated words.
