(Mass.) A poll released on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, shows immigration has made the top four most important issues facing Massachusetts right now.
According to the MassINC Polling Group Barr Foundation – MBTA Poll, which surveyed 1,000 Massachusetts residents in areas serviced by the MBTA, the most important issues facing Massachusetts right now are as follows:
1. Housing 23%
2. Cost of living / inflation 21%
3. Economy / jobs 12%
4. Immigration 10%
5. Public safety (crime, guns, drugs) 9%
6. Taxes 8%
7. Climate Change / environment 7%
8. Homelessness 7%
9. Transportation 6%
10. Healthcare / reproductive rights 5%
11. Education 5%
12. Infrastructure 5%
13. Government / politics 5%
14. Inequality / discrimination 3%
15. Other 4%
16. Unsure 5%
As you can see, the issue of immigration came out ahead of public safety (crime, guns, drugs), taxes, climate change and the environment, homelessness, transportation, and even healthcare and reproductive rights.
According to Commonwealth Magazine, "The poll has a 'credibility interval' of plus or minus 3.3 percent."
