Clarence Edmond Shackelford (AKA) "M1Y" - The Artist, a publicist, and founder of Texas Sports Museum, Tour Tyler Texas and Texas African American Museum all are programs that are under the auspices of the Empowerment Community Development Corporation, which is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit.
Saturday night for Texas African American Museum Spirit of TAAM 2023 Beauty Pageant was an Epic Event for all those in attendance.
This was my first pageant that I coordinated and let me tell you I had a blast. I’m extended great thanks to my assistant Dee Pendleton for all of her help, I could not have made it without her. -Gloria Mays Washington

The Texas African American Museum is under the auspices of Empowerment Community Development Corporation and was organized in 2017 as a program under Empowerment Community Development which is 501(C) (3).
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with programs we continuously promote in our city and community. Not to lean away from the pageant, we are located in a building gifted to Empowerment CDC by the City of Tyler to house the Texas African American Museum.
It’s a pleasure for me Gloria Washington to serve as the Executive Director of this fine organization. Come visit us soon and please consider supporting our program and our cause.
The Mission of TAAM is to Explore, Expand and Educate those who are interested in our culture and history through artifacts, photographs and their likeness. There is nothing better than African American History and our ancestors that gave much for us to go forward in this life.
