(Pinal County, Ariz.) Live music lovers have no shortage of options when looking to enjoy music in person.
From small bar-and-grill operations to large venues hosted by casinos, music fans can find opportunities to enjoy local and national acts. As the community moves past restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, music venues are also looking to welcome fans back inside their doors.
From Apache Junction to Superior, live music is available to help you rock your way across the county.
Florence, for example, is home to the River Bottom Grill, which offers live music five days a week. Their upcoming calendar has 10 different acts featured in afternoon and evening time slots. Florence's Windmill Winery hosts events nearly every night of the week featuring live music. Artists like Allen James, Warren Young, and the RJ Band can be found on multiple evenings over the next few months.
A few miles up the road in Apache Junction, the Handlebar Pub and Grill features live music nightly. According to their staff, the venue features mainly classic rock and blues. Veteran Arizona bluesman Hans Olson has been known to perform at the Handlebar, and the club features an excellent selection of mead and beer.
Lucky Strikes in Apache Junction is a sports bar with live entertainment. Bands, scheduled karaoke sessions, and music trivia happen weekly. There are billiards, pinball, and bowling for those who like to play games. Sports fans will enjoy watching events on big-screen TVs. Pizza, too, is part of the package at this neighborhood joint.
Superstition Skies Bar & Grill in Apache Junction features a variety of country music artists during their nightly live music offerings. Recent artists have included Marty & Deanna Duo, Rage – N – River, and the Shift Work Country Music Band. Superstition Skies also features an occasional jam night for musicians who want to come in and share the stage with their peers. The Hitching Post Saloon also regularly offers a wide selection of country music in Apache Junction.
For music fans looking for a larger venue, Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino Events Center provides concert-goers with opportunities to see international stars like Juanes (May 6) and Josh Turner (August 20) in their concert hall and a variety of smaller acts in the lounge.
Traveling down I-10, music fans can find live bands at the Airport Tavern. According to their Facebook page, this spot features the best country and western and rock and roll acts. They also have a unique origin story. The venue opened in 1945 as a place for pilots to wet their whistle after landing at the Three Points Airport in Casa Grande. The venue's food menu includes a plethora of burgers, from veggie to a chunky half-pounder. Riblets, nachos, and chicken strips are among the other options to fill you up while you soak up the entertainment.
Casa Grande is also home to A Latte Vino. This bistro features an extensive food, beer, and wine menu and live music every Friday and Saturday. Enjoy soothing sounds while munching on shareable snacks like baked Brie cheese in a puff pastry. Lobster ravioli and chicken pot pie are some entrees at this swank stop.
Queen Creek’s San Tan Flat rounds out the Pinal County live music offerings with various artists playing Wednesday through Sunday nights. With a large outdoor courtyard, San Tan Flat provides music fans with an opportunity to enjoy Arizona’s mild winter and spring temperatures while enjoying a full food menu while listening to live music.
