Texas Governor Greg Abbott has bussed close to 70,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. He wants to send more migrants to these cities where some have struggled managing supporting these migrants.

One city is New York City where Mayor Eric Adams continues to look for resources to support migrants.

On Wednesday, Governor Abbott wrote in an X post, formerly Twitter:

“Texas will bus migrants to sanctuary cities until Biden secures the border.”
“Over 12,500 to DC. Over 25,000 to New York City. Over 20,000 to Chicago. Over 3,200 to Philadelphia. Over 7,400 to Denver. Over 1,100 to Los Angeles. Our mission provides vital relief to border towns.”

Andrew Mahaleris, the Texas governor’s press secretary, told The New York Post.

“With millions of residents, New York is only dealing with a fraction of what our small border communities deal with on a day-to-day basis, as Texas has only bused about 25,000 migrants to New York City while President Biden has been flying planeloads of migrants all around the country and oftentimes in the cover of night. Until President Biden steps up and does his job to secure the border, Texas will continue busing migrants to sanctuary cities to help our local partners respond to this Biden-made crisis.”

The number of migrants crossing the southern border set a new record in fiscal year 2023. Border Patrol agents are overwhelmed with a new surge of 19,100 migrants in the Eagle Pass area according to Freight Waves.

Earlier this month, Texas legislators passed Senate Bill 4 which will give local police the authority to arrest and send migrants back to Mexico

According to the Daily Wire, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said in a statement:

“Senate Bill 4 is the strongest border security bill Texas has ever passed.”
“The illegal crosser can be jailed or ordered by a magistrate to be returned to the border. If they violate the order and return to Texas, they will face even harsher penalties.”

More migrants appear to be crossing the border illegally disregarding the immigration policies President Biden initiated this year. Texas has not bussed as many migrants to sanctuary cities as Governor Abbot did earlier in the year.

Where do you think Governor Abbott will send the next group of migrants?
