Illegal immigrants crossing the southern border of Texas has slowed down a little, but Governor Greg Abbott continues to make progress in the border crisis. Governor Abbott shared his thoughts in a recent press release on the current situation.

Last year, Governor Abbott began bussing migrants to sanctuary cities. Here is the current update:

  • Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C. since April 2022
  • Over 23,800 migrants to New York City since August 2022
  • Over 19,100 migrants to Chicago since August 2022
  • Over 3,200 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022
  • Over 6,500 migrants to Denver since May 18
  • Over 1,100 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14

This week Texas Congress approved Senate Bill 4 which gives Texas police the authority to detain illegal immigrants according to ABC News. Governor Abbott plans to sign this bill when it reaches his desk according to a recent post he made.

Migrants desperately cross the border

According to News Nation Now, hundreds of migrants were crossing the border in the Del Rio area on Wednesday, November 15. Some migrants did not make it as they tried to cross in Eagle Pass.

Border Czar Mike Banks who Governor Abbott appointed earlier this year said in the press release:

“Twenty-three years in the Border Patrol, and I have never seen such a chaotic border. I’ve never seen this much death.”

Illegal immigrants are using various ways to try to cross the border including a system of ropes and human chains to safely make their way into Texas.

Kidnapped children rescued

Operation Lone Star rescued 900 children from human smugglers.

Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Chris Olivarez said:

“That’s the disturbing part, that there really is no answer to what happens to these children. Our own federal government does not have an answer to that. They don’t acknowledge that, and that’s what’s really disturbing as a country.”

Governor Abbott continues to fight the border crisis in his third term in office.

How do you think Governor Abbott is doing securing the border?
