Over the past week, two flights of migrants arrived in Sacramento, California. Initially, authorities were unaware of where the flight originated from.
But records show the flight started in Florida and made stops in Texas and New Mexico before arriving in Sacramento.
California Attorney General accused Florida of their recklessness.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been quiet until he finally spoke on Wednesday, June 7.
While at Sierra Vista, Arizona, Governor DeSantis said:
“We have an ability to do things, like support police and help out Texas, because we have a good managed state.”
“This (money for migrant flights) is something that's been in the budget now for, I think, for two years. If a sheriff asked for our support in Texas, we do this as an American problem. We don't do it just as a Texas problem, as we think we're all in this together.”
Over the past year, Texas has been overwhelmed with migrants crossing the southern border at El Paso, Rio Grande, and other locations.
DeSantis added:
“California, they have a big budget deficit and we have a big budget surplus and so we have an ability to do things like support police and help out Texas.”
“If a sheriff asks for our support in Texas we view this as an American problem, we don't view it just as a Texas problem, we will send resources to Texas to do that if they want transport. We want to be helpful for that.”
California doesn’t plan to let DeSantis get over what he did.
Governor Gavin Newsom said DeSantis was using "human beings used as pawns for a guy's political advancement” referring to Governor DeSantis and his bid to run for president.
Governor Newsom added:
“We mean business. Ron DeSantis should know this. And everyone that's been part of this, and they have more direct accountability and culpability, should know we mean business and we're not backing away from getting the facts and holding those accountable if they broke the laws of the state of California.”
Do you think Governor DeSantis has been using migrants for political reasons to run for president?
