Last year, Texas Governor Greg Abbott began bussing migrants to sanctuary cities to relieve cities in the southern state that were overwhelmed by the influx of migrants. One of the cities was New York City.

In his first year in office, New York City Mayor Eric Adams didn’t expect this at all when he ran for office. Since then he has tried new ideas, some have done well and others failed.

Now Mayor Adams is working with migrants who arrived from Texas and others who came to the Big Apple to start a new life but he is running out of options.

In his next act, Adams is trying to send migrants to upstate New York.

Mayor Adams is working with state legislators to pass more housing in Albany. For Adams, this is a great way to reduce the burden of managing the thousands of migrants who are living in New York City.

According to CBS, this will bring 100,000s of affordable homes.

Mayor Adams said:

"We need action now."
"The table is set. It's now time for Albany to serve the right meal, and that right meal is a combined housing plan."
"Every service in the city is going to be impacted by this asylum and migrant crisis."

Governor Hochul said this is waiting on federal approval.

On Friday, Governor Hochul said:

“We’re very strongly pursuing the options that we believe are available.”

While speaking in Syracuse, Governor Hochul said there were opportunities for migrants to help in agricultural jobs.

“[If] we get people these expedited work permits, I guarantee you, the farms not far from here, and the hotels and the restaurants, they'll have the workforce that they've been begging for. This is an opportunity.”

With Governor Hochul’s assistance, Mayor Adams may be able to solve some problems but it likely won’t happen anytime soon.

What else do you think Mayor Adams can do to help migrants?
