Despite the policies implemented by President Joe Biden, migrants continue to cross the southern border. So last week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent out a request to other State governors asking for their support.
Several governors responded and sent military personnel and equipment. In a joint agreement, 24 Republican governors gave their support to Governor Abbott mentioned here.
Idaho’s representative, Governor Brad Little gave his support.
Governor Little said:
“As we’ve done before, Idaho is responding to the call for help from our neighbors along the border. We used a targeted approach to understand Texas’ needs and wanted to make sure our troopers will bring back what they learn to better protect Idahoans.”
“The focus of the mission is two-fold – the ISP troopers will serve as a force multiplier for the State of Texas when there is an increased need for law enforcement along the U.S.-Mexico border, and our troopers will receive on-the-job training and experience up-to-the-minute enforcement techniques that can be brought back and immediately applied in Idaho.”
Sometime this week, Governor Little will travel to Texas and get a better understanding of the border situation. He will go to Welasco, Texas which is south of San Antonio where migrants have crossed the shared border with Mexico.
Little is concerned about the migrant crisis but he is really concerned about the spread of fentanyl. In 2021, 152 died from this drug. There has been an increase in deaths in Idaho from this deadly drug.
Governor Abbott is gaining support from governors such as Little and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who sent military support as soon as the Texas governor made his request.
What do you think Governor Little will send to Texas?
