Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to bus migrants to other cities. After sending migrants to Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Chicago, he has now bussed them to Denver, Colorado.
Last year, Denver received several migrants from Texas, mostly from El Paso. This was the first time Governor Abbott bussed them to this Colorado city.
Governor Abbott said in a statement:
"Until the President and his Administration step up and fulfill their constitutional duty to secure the border, the State of Texas will continue busing migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities like Denver to provide much-needed relief to our small border towns."
Abbott usually doesn’t make announcements on migrants he bussed, but in this case, he did. The bus dropped the migrants off at Civic Center Park at 14th Street and Court Place.
Governor Abbott tweeted on May 18:
Last year, when Denver received migrants, it overwhelmed the city and the support they had in place.
Even though the number of migrants crossing the border since Title 42 ended, there are still migrants who legally cross from the immigration policies President Joe Biden implemented this year.
As Governor Abbott continues to bus migrants to sanctuary cities, earlier this week he put a call out for support from other State Governors to help him defend the border. So far Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Nebraska Governor Jim Pillan have responded and sent military personnel and equipment support.
Along the southern border, El Paso and Brownsville have seen some migrants cross but the number is not as high as expected.
Governor Abbott will unlikely stop sending migrants to Denver and other cities anytime soon.
Do you think Denver can handle more migrants from Texas?
