On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave his budget proposal which includes $12 million to transport undocumented migrants out of state. Last year, a similar amount was set aside but he primarily used the money to fly migrants out of Texas instead of Florida.

His last act when DeSantis flew migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard brought him a lawsuit that he is fighting. This came out to about $40,000 per migrant.

In his current budget proposal, Governor DeSantis said:

"I think people are sick of having an open border with no rule of law in this country. We can just sit here and do nothing about it or we can actually stand up and say whatever tools we have at our disposal, we are going to use."

He added:

“I think we’ve had a deterrent effect, and I think people are sick of having an open border with no rule of law in this country. We can just sit here and do nothing about it, or we can actually stand up and say, ‘Whatever tools we have at our disposal, we are going to be using.'"

At his press conference, he pointed out that he wants the ability to fly migrants out from any point in the country.

With this political move, it leaves one to wonder if Governor DeSantis is making a play to run for President in the 2024 election as this will surely get his name outside of Florida.

Recently, Florida is handling its own migrants who are arriving from Cuba and Haiti which was mentioned here.
