The Texas Department of Public Safety captured an Iranian terrorist who was on the FBI Terror Watchlist last week. Alireza Heidari is 29 years old and was hiding in the trunk when the car was pulled over along with four other illegal immigrants in Val Verde County south of San Antonio.
The arrest is a highlight for Operation Lone Star, the plan established by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in March 2021. Over the past year, Operation Lone Star has
- arrested 336,000 migrants
- arrested 23,000 criminals
- reported more than 20,000 felonies
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd said:
"If not for the work of Gov. Abbott and Texas DPS, Alireza Heidari would be at large on our streets today and looking to do harm to the U.S. and our fellow citizens."
Judd added:
"Heidari entered the country illegally and evaded apprehension by the Border Patrol. It fell to Texas DPS to do our job because [President] Biden continues to play politics with the safety and security of our children, friends, and neighbors. What Biden is doing is dangerous and the capture of Heidari by a non-federal law enforcement agency is the most recent proof."
Fox News reported this was not the first person captured in Texas who was on the terrorist watch list.
- FY22 98 arrests
- FY 21 15 arrests
- FY 20 three arrests
Earlier this week, Governor Abbott announced hiring Mike Banks as the Texas Immigration Czar.
With the border Texas shares with Mexico, Governor Abbott has also worked on finishing the wall previous President Donald Trump started during his time in office.
Do you think there is a problem with illegal aliens who illegally cross the border?
