Last month, Ron DeSantis flew 50 Venezuelan migrants from Florida to Martha’s Vineyard. Some believe he was copying Texas Governor Greg Abbott who has bussed migrants from Texas to sanctuary cities including Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago.
Ana Navarro-Cárdenas, co-host of "The View" said:
“We all know what a political stunt looks like, sounds like, and smells like, and this was a political stunt. Frankly, I think he was trying to outdo Governor Greg Abbott.”
Guadalupe Giner is running as a candidate for El Paso county judge said:
"The federal government must secure our border. They put this burden on El Paso County. And for whatever reason, the county has decided to open a processing center."
El Paso county is using local taxpayer money to fund the migrants crossing the border. The city sees about 1,000 migrants that enter the Texas-Mexican border.
The commissioner court approved a $6.8 million contract in September to open a new migrant support center near the El Paso airport. The new support center will be similar to the city-operated Migrant Welcome Center. The center helps up to 400 migrants a day as they coordinate travel to other cities with many heading to New York City or Chicago.
New York City is building tent city in a Bronx neighborhood which is causing some problems among local residents. One mother was afraid to walk her daughter for fear of the migrants who would live in her neighborhood.
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared a disaster proclamation after two weeks as Governor Greg Abbott sent migrants to Chicago on September 1 which overwhelmed some of the city's resources.
Then Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also declared a public emergency on September 8 as the Nation’s Capital was overwhelmed by the migrants.
Even Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has bussed migrants out of his state to other sanctuary cities.
All of these migrants are overwhelming city infrastructures that had their focus on their own homeless population. The additional influx of migrants overwhelms city facilities and non-profits that focus on the homeless population.
Governor Abbott wants President Joe Biden to provide assistance on the migrant crisis. To date, the Biden administration is quietly coordinating with Mexico to accept some of the migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela according to Reuters.
Here's a video where President Biden said it was not rational to send the migrants back to their countries:
How do you think the President should solve the migrant crisis?
