Shaq Buys a New Home in Texas and brings a Restaurant Chain with it

NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal recently closed on a mansion in Dallas Texas. With his new arrival, he plans to bring a restaurant chain with it.

Shaq finalized the deal on a north Dallas home in Carrolton, Texas for an undisclosed amount of money. The home was previously sold for $1.225 million. This is down significantly from what he made of his last real estate deal.

Last year, Shaq sold his previous 31 square feet home in Windmere, Florida for $11 million. The new home in Texas is five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 5,300 square feet.

It’s likely Shaq won’t spend as much time in his new place since he is planning to launch a new chicken chain in several places in Texas.

O’Neal said:

“Big Chicken wouldn’t be growing like it is without the team behind it. My team has done a fantastic job making sure we’re growing in the right way, with the right people. Now, we’re going even BIGGER in Texas and I’m excited to be teammates with Fazil, Frank and Noordin.”

He founded the Big Chicken chain of fast-casual restaurants. The restaurant is already located in Loa Angeles, Seattle, New York, and on two Carnival cruise ships. In Texas, Shaq plans to bring them to Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.

Shaq has an agreement to open 50 of these restaurants in the four Texas locations.

Emily Knight, the President, and CEO of Texas Restaurant Association said in a statement:

“Big Chicken is exactly the kind of brand that succeeds in Texas: pioneering and bold, yet rooted in delicious tradition. Our restaurant industry’s rich diversity is our greatest strength, and we’re absolutely thrilled that Shaquille O’Neal and the Big Chicken team are joining us. Welcome back to Texas, Shaq.”

Big Chicken was launched in 2018 and it combines Shaq’s home-cooked childhood favorites with today’s trending flavors.

The menu includes crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, Cheez-It crusted mac n’ cheese, hand-crafted ice cream shakes, and other meals.
