Texas Governor Greg Abbott made a visit to Beaumont Texas where he gave a speech where he outlined several topics.
First, he made his point about the Democratic Party.
In the MCM Elegante Ballroom Governor Abbott said,
“They used to be Democrats, and then they were liberals, and then they were progressives, and now they are who they tell you they are. We are running against socialists who are trying to redesign the United States of America and destroy the fundamental underpinnings of what made this country great from the very beginning.”
Governor Abbott added:
“As we're having lunch here today, know that there are 10,000 National Guard and Department of Public Safety officers on the border and they're putting up these massive containers that you see on these massive ships crossing the ocean. And on the other side of these massive containers that are on the border is razor wire that is used in battlefields to prevent soldiers from crossing the battlefield - we’re using it to prevent people from coming into the United States illegally.”
Funding the Border Wall
Texas has collected about 98% of the money to build the Texas-Mexico border wall.
According to public records, $54 million dollars was raised up to this point. Most of the money has come from someone who doesn't even live in Texas. Billionaire Timothy Mellon has donated $53.1 million of those dollars in stock. Mellon is the grandson of a banking tycoon. The 79-year-old billionaire currently resides in Wyoming with his grandfather. His grandfather is the former U.S. Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon.
Besides funds for the border wall, Governor Abbott has allocated nearly $3 billion dollars for border security. Abbott has added additional forces along the border and deployed 10,000 Texas National Guard and DPS troopers. These personnel are stationed along the southern border as part of operation Lonestar.
Challenger Beto O’Rourke
Governor Abbott referenced challenger Beto O’Rourke and said, “There's something else, and it's something that involves life itself, that's at stake in this election.”
“Because we see evil like that in Texas, that is exactly why I signed a law to protect the life of every child with a heartbeat,” Governor Abbott added.
Governor Abbott said:
“They want to redesign the United States of America into their image, into their re-imaginations of the socialistic ideas they want to achieve, and they want to destroy America and they despise Texas. Let me tell you something, we will not let them win. We will beat them.”
Governor Abbott continues to spread his message before the November 2022 elections as he is seeking another term in office.
