Taylor-Greene slammed for pursuing vendettas
On December 7, footage emerged on Twitter of a recent heated exchange between Georgia's most divisive and outrageous Republican - Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene - and Massachusetts Democrat Jim McGovern, over MTG's recent pursuit of another House Democrat.
McGovern was referencing remarks that Georgia's Taylor-Greene had made towards New York Democrat Jamaal Bowman, and other comments that she's made about the protests at the Capitol building in January 2021. As McGovern put it:
"It's really rich to get a lecture from someone about civility, who stood on this House floor and screamed and interrupted the President of the United States during the State of the Union."
McGovern continued his angry speech, referencing MTG's long-running defense of the actions of those who stormed the Capitol:
"For people to come down here and defend those actions, it is pathetic and disgusting."
As far as Jamaal Bowman, MTG is also currently pressing for the New York Democrat to be removed from Congress over allegations that he deliberately pulled a fire-alarm in the Capitol complex to interfere with voting that was ongoing at the time. She has deliberately equated Bowman's actions with those of the insurrectionists who entered Congress without permission.
Whether MTG can be considered a credible and impartial commentator on the events of January 2021 is a matter of opinion. In December 2022, she gave a speech to the New York Young Republican Club and declared that if she had led the insurrection:
"...we would have won. Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”
She has also frequently protested at the treatment of those who participated in the insurrection being held in jail. In that regard then, her actions may be best-described in the language that Democrat Jim McGovern used.
Do you think that Jim McGovern's description of Marjorie Taylor-Greene's actions as "pathetic and disgusting" is reasonable given her past statements? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
