MTG's latest money-making scheme
On November 28, Georgia's most outspoken and controversial Republican - Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene - launched her latest money-making venture with the sale of politically-charged holiday gifts.
Announcing the product launch on Twitter, she posted a link to her fundraising website where donors can buy 'Impeach Biden' branded gift wrap, and sweatshirts emblazoned with the slogan:
"The Grinch Who Stole The Election - Impeach Biden"
The launch of 'impeachment-themed' wrapping paper and clothing appears to be just the latest instance where Georgia's Taylor-Greene has spotted an opportunity to make some money off the back of one her political initiatives.
Only last month, in October, Taylor-Greene claimed to have "evidence" of money laundering by the Biden family which amounted to a $200,000 check payment from the president's brother - James Biden - to the president himself.
MTG claimed to have unearthed definitive proof of corrupt dealings by the "Biden Crime Family", and after posting her review of the so-called evidence on Twitter, Georgia's Taylor-Greene seemed delighted to finally have the proof of corruption that she's been referring to for many months.
In spite of her conviction that this evidence was irrefutable, the newly appointed Speaker of the House - Mike Johnson - appeared to disagree, and rejected calls from MTG and others to initiate another impeachment enquiry into President Biden, to her considerable annoyance.
Speaker Johnson may have been concerned that another impeachment enquiry would descend into the chaos that the previous one had, where Taylor-Greene and other Republicans took the opportunity to showboat and compete for attention while accomplishing nothing.
Is MTG struggling for money?
This latest episode of opportunistic and politically-charged fundraising by MTG is sadly nothing new. In the wake of her so-called 'impeachment week' in May of this year, during which Taylor-Greene attempted to impeach President Biden and numerous other key figures in his administration and federal law enforcement, she also attempted to make money for her personal campaign fund in the process.
As was the case with her most recent attempts to impeach the president, those articles of impeachment introduced in May appeared little, other than perhaps to see MTG ousted from the GOP Freedom Caucus after she fought publicly with Lauren Boebert who had allegedly 'copied' MTG's document.
In recent days, the Georgia Republican has also been on a mission to promote her newly-published book entitled 'MTG'. While the book has received a lot of mockery and negative reviews and comments from various of her most vocal critics, she clearly sees this as a means of making money too.
What next for MTG?
Whether the 'Impeach Biden' themed merchandise will be a money-spinner for Georgia's Taylor-Greene, remains to be seen. Her book seems to be getting a lukewarm reception too, and after its launch had been teased over a number of months, it had gained just a couple of one-star reviews on Amazon in the days following its launch.
She has also lamented the lack of support that her proposals to impeach Biden, and other legislation have received from her fellow-Republicans which suggests she may be falling out of favor regardless of how much she tries to win approval.
Time will tell what comes next for MTG.
