On September 16, Georgia's most outspoken and opinionated Republican - Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene - took to Twitter where she continued to express her outrage that President Joe Biden's son had been indicted on charges relating to illegal possession of a gun, rather than for the numerous other crimes that she alleges he has committed.

According to MTG, the reason why Hunter Biden is being pursued for such crimes, is that it will allow federal prosecutors to impose gun controls while eroding second amendment constitutional rights. As she put it:

"Out of all the crimes to charge Hunter with, they chose the gun charges for two reasons. It’s the only crimes that do not involve Joe Biden, the rest do. And they want to sway court rulings on the Second Amendment to impose gun control."

Her suggestion seems fairly conspiratorial, and points to her continuing mistrust of the federal government as it seeks to hold those who have committed crimes, responsible for their actions.

MTG continues her pursuit of the Bidens

Marjorie Taylor-Greene has focused a lot of her time and attention towards pursuing Hunter Biden in the course of 2023.

Her presentation to a House Oversight Committee featuring large printed cards with explicit images taken from Hunter Biden's laptop was particularly memorable.

MTG attracted a great deal of criticism from Democrats who felt her conduct was unacceptable.

Biden has fought back however, and in April of this year, called upon the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate MTG, for repeated “unhinged rhetoric” and potential violations of ethics rules and codes of conduct.

Taylor-Greene's fight for second amendment freedoms

The Georgia Republican is a well-known champion of second amendment freedoms and a keen user of guns herself. She welcomed the announcement that Georgia now allows permit-less concealed carry of guns, and has spoken out repeatedly at the introduction of laws that constrain the rights and freedoms of gun owners.

After the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms introduced new laws that prevent the installation of pistol-braces onto handguns, the Georgia Republican joined others in the GOP calling for the ATF to be defunded.

She's also been a keen proponent of the principle of relaxation of gun controls as a means of deterring crime. For example, in May of this year, MTG shared her impressions on the launch of a new ride hailing app that has launched in the state of Georgia - Black Wolf - which offers customers a vehicle driven by an armed, trained driver.

In Taylor-Greene's opinion, the path to safer streets for the public is to have more 'good guys with guns' who are able to deter criminals and defend the innocent when needed.

On this basis, it would seem that she's fearful of there being further gun controls imposed upon the American public. As to whether there is a legitimate intention by federal prosecutors to implement gun controls off the back of Hunter Biden's indictment? That prospect seems a little far-fetched, but time will tell!
