On May 24, as Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis officially launched his candidacy for the presidential election in 2024, Georgia's most outspoken and opinionated Republican - Marjorie Taylor-Greene - took to Twitter to reaffirm her commitment to the one-term former president Donald Trump.

MTG was unequivocal about her choice for the Republican candidacy, stating:

"Ron DeSantis is not a serious candidate."

The Georgia Republican is a staunch supporter of the beleaguered Trump, and aside from being strongly rumored to be his chosen running-mate for the election, she has also fought to protect his name through the various legal-challenges being mounted against the three-time loser Trump.

While she hasn't been particularly against DeSantis as such, Taylor-Greene was critical of Florida's Governor after he refused to show enough disdain for the first legal challenge being mounted against Trump. At the time, MTG criticized DeSantis for not refusing to blocking the sending of Trump from Florida to New York to face charges.

"America First" Republicans want Trump, says MTG

On May 21, Georgia's Taylor-Greene took a swipe at those who have criticized the much publicized 'America First Agenda' of one-term former president Donald Trump.

She criticized mainstream media for making Trump's plans "sound scary", and at the same time chose to pledge her unwavering support for her political idol in helping him secure a second term in office.

While the formal announcement of a DeSantis campaign has been a long time coming, it was certainly rumored and had garnered enough attention for Trump himself to start to belittle and demean the Florida Governor, using nicknames Ron DeSanctimonious and Ron DeSanctus. MTG has, so-far, refrained from using these in reference to DeSantis but now he's in the running, things may change.

The lengths that MTG will go to, to support Trump

Georgia's MTG has proven that she's willing to go to great lengths to support Trump, and in April as the one-term former president was arraigned in a New York Court, she attended a large demonstration outside the building, facing a large number of counter-protestors who ultimately drove her to leave.

Meanwhile, the former Trump publicist - Laura Loomer - has taken issue with Marjorie Taylor-Greene, and in April called her out in a bizarre battle over who appears to care most about the one-term former president.

Now that DeSantis is formally in the running for the White House, MTG has an opportunity to renew her devotion to support Trump as he advances his 'America First Agenda'. Whether her support and the endorsement of various other high-profile and vocal Republicans such as Florida's Matt Gaetz, will be enough to defeat DeSantis remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, voters in Georgia may once again find themselves wondering whether this is what they elected MTG to office, to do - to support Trump as he seeks another term in office.

Do you think that Marjorie Taylor-Greene should be more focused on serving the people of Georgia who elected her, and less time supporting Donald Trump in his presidential campaign? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below.
