The Roosevelt New Orleans will be hosting the 74th annual “on Friday, September 29th. The annual event will feature a luncheon, fashion show and recreation of the real-life “storming” of the Sazerac Bar.
"Stormin’ of the Sazerac” celebrates the women who pushed their way into the Sazerac Bar in 1949 demanding to be served drinks, at a time when women in New Orleans could only be served alcohol in bars on Mardi Gras Day.
“Storming of the Sazerac” encompasses libations, cuisine and entertainment, including:
- A ladies-only three course luncheon
- Complimentary welcome beverage
- Cash bar
- Live entertainment
- Juried best-dressed competition
Ladies are invited to dress in post-war New Orleans style, such as hats, veils, peep-toe shoes and gloves. Live entertainment will be provided and the event will feature a fashion show showcasing vintage styles with a best-dressed competition. Former WGNO newscaster Tamica Lee will be the emcee this year’s festivities, which will take place in the famous Blue Room and world-renowned Sazerac Bar.
