New Orleans is known for its delicious, fresh seafood and one of the most popular items to eat here is the shrimp po-boy. A po-boy is a sandwich that is served on fresh French bread that is overstuffed with anything from ham, roast beef, hot sausage and of course, fried shrimp. The po-boy is so popular in New Orleans that there is an entire festival dedicated to them. So, when you are in the mood for a good sandwich, here are some of the best places to get a shrimp po-boy in the New Orleans area, either for dine in or take out.

They are one of my personal favorites. Everything on their menu is incredible but their shrimp po-boy is a must try. According to NewOrleans.com, "Family owned and operated for over a century, and the winner of the Travel Channel’s Food War’s competition for best Shrimp Po-Boy, Domilise’s Po-Boy & Bar is an Uptown gem. While every item on their menu is delicious, locals will recommend their fried oyster, fried shrimp, or roast beef po-boy. Can’t decide between them? Mix it up with a surf and turf po-boy or double down on the seafood with a half and half."

The restaurant, as it exists today, has been family-owned and operated since 1996. The building, located just off Esplanade Avenue near City Park, is a historical landmark, dating back to the 1930s. While everything on their menu is incredible, Liuzza's is famous for their signature BBQ shrimp po-boy, taking two of the most popular dishes in New Orleans to combine them for a flavorful sandwich you will never forget.
