And just like that, Samantha Jones is back and what a shocker!

As originally reported by Variety, Kim Cattrall will reprise her iconic role as Samantha Jones in the Season 2 finale of "And Just Like That" the revival of HBO’s hit series Sex and the City.

Unfortunately, it is only a cameo role, and she will appear in just one scene. According to sources, Cattrall filmed on March 22nd in New York City, without seeing or speaking with any of the stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker or “And Just Like That” showrunner Michael Patrick King. Cattrall did reunite with Sex and the City's costume designer Patricia Field, who dressed her for the scene.

In the scene, Samantha Jones who in the show is now living in London, will have a phone conversation with her estranged former best friend, Carrie Bradshaw. In the first season of “And Just Like That,” Carrie first engaged with Samantha over text messages.

Cattrall has been very vocal about her breakup with SATC. In prior interviews, she had made it very clear that she was done playing Samantha. In 2017, she turned down a script for the third “Sex and the City” movie, which centered on Mr. Big’s sudden death and Carrie’s grieving process which provided the inspiration for “And Just Like That." Also alluding to a feud with co-star Parker saying that she "could have been nicer." After the death of her brother in 2018, Cattrall posted on her Instagram account that Parker's "continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now." and "stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Fortunately, Cattrall has agreed to return and even if it is just for a moment, it will finally give SATC fans the closure with Samantha that they have been asking for.
