In less than 9 months, Andrea's Restaurant in Metairie has a new owner. Anthony Marullo III, a local real estate developer has sold the restaurant to the New Orleans-based hospitality group Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts, who owns several other restaurants in the area including Boulevard American Bistro, Tavola, Broussard’s, Cafe Maspero and the Bombay Club.
Since 1985, Andrea's Restaurant has been one of the most well-known and loved restaurants in Jefferson Parish. It was previously owned by its founding chef Andrea Apuzzo but last summer Apuzzo retired and sold the restaurant to Marello.
After the sale, Marullo said he that he planned to renovate the restaurant but has since had a change of heart and wants to focus on other personal endeavors. According to Nola.com, Marullo said of the sale, “I feel like it’s in good hands. I’ve known them a long time, I know them to be passionate and responsible individuals in this industry. I felt they’d honor what that site means to the community.”
Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts plans to turn the restaurant into an affordable steakhouse. “In my opinion, an approachable steakhouse is missing in Jefferson Parish. We always look for what the community is missing, and I think that’s something needed.” said Marv Ammari, CEO of Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts.
But with another change in ownership, comes a new restaurant with different cuisine and probably a different name too.
So, sadly for the Andrea's, the Metairie Italian restaurant that was the host of many events for family and friends for over 40 years, it will become another place in history that local residents can say, "Ain't there no more."
