The city of New Orleans will host the 71st annual Miss Universe competition on Saturday, January 14th at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

"There is no place like New Orleans. This vibrant city has been at the top of our list to host for quite some time due to its rich cultural history, as well as its unique arts, entertainment, and culinary scene. I look forward to our delegates from all over the world getting to experience all it has to offer.” said Paula Shugart, the President of The Miss Universe Organization.

According to the Miss Universe website, "The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) is a global, inclusive organization that celebrates all cultures, backgrounds and religion. We create and provide a safe space for women to share their stories and drive impact. The Miss Universe Organization provides women who participate in this international platform with the tools to affect positive change personally, professionally, and philanthropically serving as inspirational leaders and role models to their communities and fans around the world.  The Miss Universe Organization exists to advocate for a future forged by women with courage to push the limits of what’s possible, who are curious in the discovery, and the audacity to do it again. We know how important it is to reach gender equity for the good of all people."

R'Bonney Gabriel, who is from Houston, Texas, will represent the United States in the competition. She was crowned Miss USA in October.

This year's Miss Universe will be hosted by former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and Jeannie Mai-Jenkins, the host of "The Real." It will stream for free on the Roku Channel at 6 pm Central Time. It will also be available to watch on Telemundo. Tickets for the dress rehearsal and finals are available on Ticketmaster.com
