San Jose’s Nirvana Soul is expanding! The Black-owned coffee company announced on Instagram that they will be opening a new location on the first floor of the MLK Library on the San Jose State University campus.
Nirvana Soul is a coffee shop specializing in serving high-quality coffee, tea, and other beverages, as well as a variety of pastries and light bites. Founded by Be’Anka Ashaolu and Jeronica Macey, each Nirvana Soul location has a bright and welcoming environment that features local artists and food products. Known for their hand-crafted lattes and waffles, Nirvana Soul has filled a need in San Jose which is the lack of locally owned coffee shops. Nirvana Soul offers drinks like the Honey- Lavender Latte, the Celebration Latte, and a Sweet Potato Latte that is made with house-made sweet potato syrup.
The new location will be a welcome spot for SJSU students who have limited food options on campus. I remember being a college student there and spending a ton of time studying or grabbing a hot cup of coffee in this space. This location is a no-brainer for the company that often hosts pop-ups on campus.
Downtown San Jose has languished for years with businesses folding on a regular basis but Norvana Soul has bucked that trend by creating a space that offers local events and being a place where people will drive to. This will be the third Nirvana Soul location in the Bay Area, the others being in Cupertino and First Street in Downtown San Jose.
