A new video posted to the social network Tik Tok and re-posted on Twitter appears to show a uniquely American occurrence during the July 4th holiday.

A woman in Texas, according to Philip Lewis, who re-posted the clip to Twitter, “wasn’t allowed to join a July 4th parade” while riding her tractor. According to Lewis, “she tried to join anyway”, and so “police forced her off the road into a fence and then arrested her.”

The video clip--whose authenticity could not be immediately verified--appears to show exactly that.

In the clip, a woman rides an older model brown tractor along a small round near parked cars, as people appear to sit on chairs and watch an Independence Day parade on a nearby road. The tractor is adorned with a single America flag.

As the woman slowly rides past the spectators, a police cruiser drives past, and several police officers in uniform chase after the tractor. The officers and the woman struggle with levers on the tractor as it moves along. Presumably, the officers are attempting to engage the tractor’s brake.

As three officers struggle with the woman, she continually fights off their efforts to stop the tractor, eventually accelerating away at a speed which still can only be described as modest. A single police cruiser slowly follows the woman down the road as she drives away on the tractor.

The video then cuts to a scene which appears to play out several minutes later. The tractor is stopped near a fence and surrounded by police officers. The woman stands with her hands in the air as the officers stand around her.

Lewis writes of the woman that “Police forced her off the road into a fence and then arrested her”. The creator of the video is then heard speaking to a police officer, who appears concerned but also amused by the situation.

The video’s creator, who is not immediately identified by full name, asks the officer if the woman stole the tractor. Again appearing a bit surprised by the whole situation the officer states that “No, it’s her tractor.”

The video has been viewed over 300,000 times since it was originally posted, and was shared by local news organizations including Fox 4 News, which covers North Texas.

Commenters on Twitter and elsewhere were amused by the spectacle of a woman trying to join an Independence Day parade on a worn and rusty tractor. Some saw it as emblematic of America, or as the kind of thing which would only happen in Texas.

Most commenters were amused by the whole process. It’s unclear what ultimately happened to the woman. Of course, all suspects in any investigation are innocent until proven guilty. Why the incident was caught on video, it’s unclear what the next steps might be for the woman. It’s also unclear what fate her tractor ultimately suffered, or to what extent her actions may have disrupted the parade.

Thankfully, no one appears to have been hurt in the incident. For many people, the video made amusing watching on the July 4th holiday.
