A South Carolina man recently found an unscratched lottery ticket in his car. He was in for a surprise of his life when he scratched the ticket. The ticket was a winning lottery worth $500,000.

For a week, the man did not know that his ticket is so valuable and has a winning number in it. He was driving around in his car without finding out what is there inside the ticket.

According to the 'South Carolina Education Lottery' officials, the man told them that he purchased the half a million US dollar Extreme ticket, but later he forgot about the ticket. He had bought the lottery ticker from the Stop-A-Minit store in Greenville.

The ticket was just lying around like scrap paper for a week before he found it by chance in his car. The man considers himself twice lucky as he bought the ticket and was also able to rediscover it in time to encash his winnings.

According to the South Carolina man, he was utterly shocked before being overwhelmed with joy when he scratched the ticket and saw the numbers. He was initially not able to believe his eyes. It took him some time to come to his senses and understand that it is real - he has won $500,000.

"It's surreal. That's the only way I know how to describe it." - The lottery winner

The man chose not to waste any further time. He drove straight to encash his winning lottery ticket.

Even the Stop-A-Minit store that sold the lottery ticket was rewarded. They received a commission of $5,000 for selling the winning lottery ticket.

Now that is what you call a win-win situation.
