(Alabama)- A former athlete of the state has found himself in hot waters after he was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. According to an article by Swim Swam, former swimmer Reid Mikuta has been charged with rape in Alabama.

Based on court documents obtained by Alabama's WRBL, Mikuta engaged in acts with a woman who was unable to give him consent. Police received a call around December 2022 from the woman alleging she was taken advantage of around October 9, 2022, by him.

Below is a video of Mikuta racing for Auburn University in the Men’s 100M Breaststroke around December 2021, and hewas considered a top specialist in his field. Swim Swam also reported that Mitkuta is no longer a student at the university and didn't enroll this fall for classes.
