Sierra Sahara Thomas, also known as Sweetie, attended Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Sierra dropped out of school and had two daughters, but she enrolled in adult education classes and in 2002, she was working towards her diploma. The mother of two attended classes while holding down a job at The Caesar’s Hotel.
On November 21, 2002, her sister gave 19-year-old Sierra a ride to the home of one of her children’s fathers who lived in the Back Maryland neighborhood of Atlantic City, in the 800 block of North Maryland Avenue. According to the Charley Project, Sierra told her sister that she would call her when she was ready to be picked up.
After waiting for an hour, her sister drove to a nearby store and paid some bills.
Sierra never called for a ride home. She has never seen or heard from her sister again. She had $33 in cash with her, reports the Charley Project.
The father of her child is allegedly the last person to see her. His name has never been publicly released and t is unclear if he was ever questioned by police or named as a suspect in the disappearance if Sierra.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) website states the following:
"On November 21, 2002, Sierra Thomas was with a male friend when her then-current boyfriend saw them together. A short time later, the victim and her boyfriend met and he is the last person to see her alive. Thomas was last seen wearing light blue sweatpants, dark blue or black shirt, black Guess jacket, and a multi-colored scarf."
