On August 26, 1993, 17-year-old Shanythia Mashelle Greene left her family home in the 1600 block of North Cypress Road in Pompano Beach, Florida, around 5:00 am.
According to the Charley Project, the teen left to take her boyfriend to work. Shanythia was a graduate of Ely High School and worked at K-Mart as a part-time cashier.
When her mother awoke at 8:00 am, Shanythia's bedroom door was closed, and her car was in the driveway. When her mother came home from work around 10:00 pm and realized her daughter was gone, she assumed Shanythia was with her boyfriend and went to bed, the Charley Project reports.
Her mother awoke at 3:00 am and realized Shanythia was still not home.
The family waited the next day for Shanythia to come home, but when she failed to return, they reported her missing early the following morning.
On August 29, 1993, her white 1992 Pontic LeMans was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Days Inn Motel in the 1400 block of Northwest 31st Avenue in Pompano Beach, Florida. Her purse was on the front seat, along with a fake identification with the name "Torqueta C. Montgomery."
Witnesses may have seen Shanythia talking to an African-American man driving an eighteen -wheeler with a blue cab and New Jersey license plates, but the man has never been identified.
In 1995, authorities received a tip that Shanythia was buried in the 2800 block of Northwest Fourth Street. They searched the area, but never found any evidence related to her disappearance.
