29-year-old Jordan Taylor is a first-year law student at the University of New York who lives in the borough of Queens. Jordan has made politics and activism the focus of his life. He worked on campaigns for Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby and for the current Lt. Governor Anthony Delgado.
On January 6, 2023, Jordan got a haircut in Queens and was later seen near the Port Authority Bus Terminal. His phone records indicate that he likely visited a bar, The Q, in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. The Q is an LBGTQ club located at 795 8th Avenue. On January 7, 2023, his wallet was found in Battery Park City near the Goldman Sachs Building on West Street.
"We got a call at 9:30 saying that someone found his wallet in Battery Park by Goldman Sachs," his brother, Alton Taylor, told NBC NY.
Jordan has not been seen or heard from since.
In April 2022, 25-year-old Julio Ramirez, a social worker, was found dead after leaving the bar with a group of men in a taxi. After his death, his family discovered some of his savings had been stolen.
Then in May 2022, 33-year-old John Umberger, a political consultant visiting New York from Washington DC, met some men who drugged him, robbed him, and killed him. Surveillance showed him leaving the club being "propped up" with a group of men, NBC NY reports. He was later found dead from an overdose in a townhouse, and money had been taken from his bank account.
Now, authorities, family, and friends are concerned that Jordan could be a third victim of a serial group of robbers.
"I don't want to rule out a heinous foul play. Like, I don't want to think about it, but I can't rule it out either," Alton told NBC NY. "I'm trying to keep, I'm keeping high spirits. They hope we're going to find him going to be safe and sound. And then, you know, we'll figure out a way to get back to a sense of normalcy from this."
