22-year-old Gina Marie Ellison was a petty officer in the naval reserves in San Jose, California. She was an accounting student at San Jose State University. Her husband, Andray Vance Nelson, was an information systems operator for the U.S. Air Force in Sunnyvale, California. The couple lived in the San Marino Apartments in San Jose.

On June 19, 1990, Gina left their apartment at 8:00 pm for her regular jog from Nieman Boulevard and back. Two hours later, Andray flagged down a police cruiser to report his wife missing, the Charley Project reports. The authorities conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate Gina or any clues in her disappearance.

Investigators discovered Gina had left Andray in the past but returned due to financial issues, the Charley Project reports. She allegedly told some friends she planned to leave him again. Gina had previously undergone a psychiatric evaluation when she attempted suicide after a fight with Andray.

Andray told authorities he was practicing his bass guitar when Gina left to go jogging, the Charley Project reports. Gina never returned, and he flagged down the police car. Andray remained cooperative with authorities and consistently called them for updates on her case.

In October 1990, four months after Gina vanished, Andray was discharged from his position due to drug use. In January 1991, Andray confessed to a string of bank robberies in the San Jose area. He was arrested and sentenced to 16 years in prions.

In 1991, an unidentified male called the San Jose Police Department and told authorities Gina was being held in a house on Mountain View Road in Mountain View, California. Authorities searched the home, and there was no evidence found and no indication that Gina had been there. Authorities believe the call was a hoax.

Andray was paroled in 1999. Gina has never been seen or heard from again.

Gina Marie Ellison is 5'1" and weighed 128 pounds when she vanished.
