Lakisha Shantella Taylor, nicknamed Kisha, is the mother of three children. She separated from her husband and shared a home with her cousin, Sandy Stevenson, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. On the morning of June 13, 2008, Sandy left the house to run an errand. When she returned, Lakisha was nowhere in the house.

"I ended up going to get some breakfast. When I came back, her clothes and everything was ironed on the bed, bath water was ran, but she wasn't there," Sandy told KPLC TV.

Lakisha left behind her purse, money, clothes, identification, cell phone, and other personal belongings. The 27-year-old mother of three has never been seen or heard from again. Her family said this is uncharacteristic of Lakisha, especially to leave her young children, reports the Charley Project. They reported her missing to the Lake Charles Police Department.

"It's hard... it's hard. We miss her. We just want closure to this. It's been so long," Emile Alexander, Lakisha's brother, told KPLC TV.

According to the Charley Project, her estranged husband was considered a suspect in her disappearance.

"This is not just a I'm going to walk out of my life and start somewhere else case. We have some very narrow concerns that this is criminal activity," Deputy Chief Mark Kraus of the Lake Charles Police Department, told KPLC TV.

According to KPLC TV, authorities said they have a "person of interest" but have not named a "suspect."

"But if the person that thinks that they are a suspect hears this and they can read between the lines - this case is far from over," Deputy Chief Mark Kraus told KPLC TV.

In October 2010, investigators received a tip that they might find Lakisha's body buried on some property on North Bank Street. Authorities and forensic experts from the LSU FACES lab searched the area for two days but never found any evidence linked to the disappearance of Lakisha or her remains.

"Somebody got the answers! They had an anonymous phone call already, and they told them to call back and gave them a number. But they never called back. That was like five years ago... so we know somebody knows something. They are just scared to come forward," her brother Emile told KPLC TV in 2014.

Lakisha Shantella Taylor is 5'4" and weighed 132 pounds when she vanished.
