Dayton, Ohio is a city with a population of just over 140,000 about 72 miles west of Columbus, Ohio.

According to friends, 32-year-old Janis Pringle and her 29-year-old sister Michelle were longtime residents of Dayton.

Janis lived in the 100 block of Monument Avenue in Dayton, Ohio, and was receiving monthly social security benefits.

Janis, who was a known drug user, failed to pick up her social security checks in September and October.

On November 7, 2003, three months after she was last seen, a family friend reported Janis missing.

August 14, 2003, is the last date anyone could recall seeing or speaking to Janis, reports the Ohio Attorney General website.

Then, a few months after Janis disappeared, her sister 29-year-old Michelle Napier vanished.

As reported by the Dayton Daily News, Michelle was last seen on October 3, 2003, at her apartment. The mother of three lived in the 1800 block of Palisades in Harrison Township.

The next morning, her sister Yvette Napier, discovered Michelle's door unlocked, keys on a nearby table, and the television was on.

There was no sign of Michelle.

Her family reported her missing on October 4, 2003.

Tragically, her body was found in May 2004, wrapped in a tarp, behind Siebenthaler Company Nursery in Harrison Township, Ohio.

Michelle’s murder has never been solved.

I found an article published November 2, 2003, in the Dayton Daily News written by Mary McCarty, via the website Taptalk. The article is an interview with Michelle Napier's family members and friends.

Even though multiple outlets state Michelle and Janis were sisters, there is no mention of Janis or her disappearance in the article. According to the Ohio Attorney General's office, Janis was reported missing on November 7, 2003, five days after the article was published.

I was also contacted via Facebook by friends of Janis and Michelle who confirmed they are sisters. They have never forgotten these cases and wonder what happened to Janis and who took Michelle's life.

Janis was 4’11” and weighed 190 pounds when she vanished.

Please contact the Dayton Police Department at 937-333-1070 with any information.
