New Poll Shows Kemp and Walker are Expanding Their Leads in Georgia - Despite Obama Stumping for Dems

In the last few weeks. Georgia Democratic candidates have pulled out every stop they could think of. From massive, multi-million-dollar television negative ad campaigns against their Republican rivals, to politically reincarnating former president Barak Obama to campaign with them, (not so discreetly distancing themselves from the Democrat currently occupying the White House).

Despite all of these efforts, other than modestly energizing the bedrock of their existing base, neither Democratic candidate seems to have been able to evoke other, previously unconvinced, or Republican-leaning voters to swing their votes over to the blue side.

In fact, with only 10 days remaining until the pivotal mid-term elections that will decide the balance of power in both chambers of Congress for at least the next 2 years, Democrats across the country don’t seem to be doing well, as Republican candidates seem to be surging and taking the lead in polling, even in races that have long been considered likely to remain Democrat.

In this latest poll from Fox 5 in Atlanta, incumbent Georgia Governor, Republican Brian Kemp has now opened up a staggering 9-point lead. And this, after Stacey Abrams had former President Barack Obama campaign for her in the Peach State.

What’s more, while there, Obama also stumped for incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock, claiming that “bad things happen when celebrities run for office. We’ve all seen those results before.” Of course, he was alluding to former President Donald Trump, however, he seemed to forget that he was also referring to the much beloved former president Ronald Reagan, an oversight that many Republican and Independent voters didn’t overlook.

Further, races such as the ones in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, New York, and Georgia, where the elections were once considered to be nothing more than a formality before extending the terms of sitting Democrats, are now all polling in favor of Republicans, some of them are even opening up staggering leads over their Democratic challengers.

Of course, polling is fluid and poll data can change very rapidly, particularly this close to such a pivotal election day. Because of that, we here at The Veracity Report will be monitoring these nationwide races almost nonstop over the next week and a half, as we close in on these most important mid-term elections.
