Oro Valley has been growing rapidly in population in the past few years, and yet the amount of restaurant options has seemed to lag behind. That is, until the last week of October when the new Mali Thai opened in the Vistoso Plaza on the corner of Tangerine Road and 1st Avenue. This charming little Thai food restaurant is a wonderful break from the usual fast-food joints that dot the map.
I sampled the delicious food for dinner a few nights ago, and if you love authentic Thai food, this is the place for you. We started with the Shrimp Donuts, which I think is one of the stand-out items on the menu. They have a savory shrimp and chicken mixture with potato and a sweet sauce. It's unique while being absolutely delicious.
For the main course, I ordered the Yellow and Massaman curries. These were both outstanding. The yellow curry was sweet and full-bodied. It was cooked with potatoes, onions, and carrots to round out the flavors. The Massaman curry is perfect for the peanut lover. It is a sweet and savory flavor with peanut and a mixture of vegetables that bring this dish together.
Overall, this little restaurant is a great spot to get a delicious, authentic Thai meal. The fact that the restaurant was packed is a testament to how much people in the area are already enjoying the food at Mali Thai.
The restaurant serves lunch from 11 am to 3 pm. From 3 pm to 8:30 pm they serve dinner, with extended hours on the weekends. You can find this little spot at 12140 N Rancho Vistoso Blvd. in Oro Valley. They offer take-out and are available on many food delivery apps also.
