Things are slowly but surely getting back to normal. After a year of shutdowns, canceled events, and perpetual lockdown, it's finally time to start celebrating holidays with our neighbors and community. The town of Marana is happy to bring back its Star-Spangled Spectacular to celebrate Independence Day.
This festival will be held at the Silverbell District Park on July 4th. This park can be found south of Cortaro on Silverbell. The park festivities start at 5 pm, with fireworks scheduled for 9 pm. The fireworks are slated to last for roughly 25-30 minutes. So bring a blanket and a cooler!
Until the firework show, head to the park for some exciting times. This park features a splash pad and playground for the littles. You can bring your own cooler and outside food with you, so set up in a great spot, have some cut up watermelon and enjoy the summer evening. Just make sure you don't bring any glass with you.
If you don't want to bring your own food, the festivities will include up to 25 different food vendors. Bugaloo's Soft Serve ice cream truck will be there with treats to help cool you down. Trolley Treats will be there with funnel cake, sno-cones, and beverages. There will be BBQ from Fork and Fire and Smokin Monster BBQ. Other vendors include churros, comfort food, pizza, and more.
There is no cost for admission, as the park is open to the public. There will be music over the speakers too to add to the ambiance of the event. Don't forget to bring lots of water as it is forecasted to be in the upper '90s on the 4th.
So this year, instead of wasting your hard earned money on fireworks that will disappoint, let the city of Marana do the work for you. Head down to this great event, support local food businesses, and have a great evening watching the fireworks in safety. After the dry year we've had in Southern Arizona, let's leave the pyrotechnics to the professionals.
