Five Easy Ways to Save at Sephora

The Savvy Reeder

We all love shopping for beauty products. Makeup, skincare, haircare, and body care are must-haves for some quarantine self-care. While we're all maintaining our social distance and shopping from home, there are some great ways to ensure you save money when you're shopping. One of my favorite beauty spots is Sephora. Beyond the semi-annual Beauty Insider sale they have, there aren't that many ways to save money. That is... unless you know some of the many hacks! Read on to save some funds and get some great skincare and beauty for less!

Join The Beauty Insider Program

The Sephora rewards program, Beauty Insider, is free to join. You build up points as you shop and can redeem them for free products, or on a good day, discounts. Save up 500 points and get $10 off your purchase. There are times when certain product categories will get you double or triple points, so you can rack them up faster. Once you spend $350 in a calendar year, you get upgraded to VIB level, which gets you better discounts. Spend $1000 a year, and you'll be Rouge level. This gets you the ability to trade in 2500 points for a $100 gift card. I have personally redeemed my points for the gift card a few times, and it's a great incentive.

Checking The Sale Page

Okay, the sale page seems like a no-brainer but hear me out. If there are products you have your eye on, favorite them and go back and check them periodically. I've found some great Huda Beauty palettes that went on sale for a few days, and then back up to the full price. I find that almost everything seasonal will end up on sale, so don't splurge on those holiday sets until after the holiday. They always have great discounts on the sale page!

Use Rakuten

If you've never used Rakuten, then you're really leaving discounts all over the internet. When you sign up you automatically get $10. Go to this website before you do any online shopping. Right now, they're offering a 4% cash bag on Sephora purchases, but sign up for the alerts as they will increase the percentages throughout the year. I've seen it as high as 8% cash back, which can really add up when you purchase something big ticket. At the end of every quarter, they will send you a check, or direct deposit, of all your cashback. I've used this website for more than just Sephora. Try it whenever you shop online to make sure you're getting an extra discount every time you shop.

Buy a Discounted Gift Card

Say you want to save the maximum amount of money on that beautiful DryBar Buttercup hairdryer. You've saved up your points, logged into Rakuten, and are ready to purchase. Why not save that much more with a discounted gift card. Websites like Raise and CardSell offer gift cards at a discount. People get gift cards all the time to stores they won't shop at, so they sell them on these websites to recoup some cash, which saves you money at these stores.

Don't Be Afraid of Returning Items

Nothing is worse than making your dream purchase and finding out it's not your shade/size/type. Don't let your hard earned funds go to waste. Sephora has a pretty generous return policy. If you return it within 30 days, you get funds back the way you spent them. Return an item within 60 days and you'll get a gift card or store credit for the products going price. This goes for new or gently used. That means if you got home, put that foundation on your face and it turned you orange in the sunlight, you can return that right back, even if it was opened. Don't let bad products clog up your counter. Take them back and find the right product for you!

Now that you've got the secrets to saving money, go forth and get some great deals on beauty! Treat yourself!
