What an incredible deal for the heroes in our lives! Coming from a military family, when I saw this deal, I immediately shared it with my family members and friends who are educators. I've been on 4 cruises so far, though never on this cruise line, so I'm intrigued to learn more about them and all that they offer. It sounds like the perfect atmosphere for a short cruise to get away!

Proposed rezoning for a Guilford county school draws anger and concern from Kernersville residents

As a Kernersville resident that lives near the South Bunker Hill/Boylston Road area involved in the proposed rezoning, I am concerned for the future of our neighborhood if the almost 34 acre K-8 school site is approved. One of the things we love most about Kernersville is its close proximity to everything while still maintaining a peaceful and and secluded feel to it. We often see deer in our back yard and we appreciate not getting stuck in traffic jams like we have in previous larger cities. We don't hear much noise and would like to keep it that way.

TREX Cinema to offer sensory friendly films in honor of Autism Awareness Month

The TREX Cinema plans to offer sensory friendly films which means they will have special showings of films with the lights up and the sound lowered without previews to accommodate families that would love to be able to attend a movie and have a safe space where their children are welcomed to be themselves! Dancing, singing, giggling, and even crying will be welcomed. The Trexlers noted that as a large family with lots of small children, they understand that every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of the movies without being shamed for making noise. I'm not aware of anywhere else in the Triad that offers sensory friendly movies, so this is a welcome and much needed chance for neurodivergent individuals to enjoy films.

This is such a heartwarming opportunity to give our pets a shout out and get them their 15 minutes of fame! I submitted a photo of our rescue dog, Sasha, and can't wait to see her sleepy face (pictured below) featured on our local billboard in a few days! She's a huge couch potato and the most excellent napping buddy, but also jumps at the chance to go on walks, hikes and all road trips.

Growing up in China, some of my most lasting memories are the shared meals we had there with friends. A favorite tradition there is hot pot, where you cook all your meat, noodles, vegetables, etc in a flavorful soup base in front of you on the table. Since moving to the Triad, I've been missing this dining option, as the closest hot pot restaurants I've found are in Raleigh (this one is my favorite as they have a robot waiter!) or Charlotte. I'm thrilled to see that a hot pot fusion restaurant (KPOT) will be opening soon in our area so that all of the Piedmont Triad area can now enjoy this dining experience!

7th Annual Mutt Strut 5K to be held May 6th

Looking for a way to get active with your dog? Forsyth Humane Society brings you the 7th Annual Mutt Strut, the biggest dog walk and run in the Triad presented by Bob King Automotive Group! This year's event will feature a 1 mile and 5k certified route for you and your 2 or 4 legged friends to enjoy. Pets are welcome and encouraged! After the race, peruse our vendor market and grab an adult beverage from our friends at Incendiary Brewery. The race starts at 9am, prizes for top winners.
