A “staged” collision was used to rob a person on an on-amp to the San Diego (405) Freeway in Huntington Beach on Tuesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place on the southbound Beach Boulevard offramp at around 1:15 p.m.

The CHP says the perpetrators staged a crash between a maroon Infiniti sport utility vehicle and a white Ford Explorer. After the collision, suspects in dark clothing and masks held up the driver of the Infiniti at gunpoint and took cash and jewelry.

They then left the scene in the Ford.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the CHP Border Division Investigative Services Major Crime Unit at (657) 391-4017 or Investigator Joaquin Gill at (714) 240-3754.
