On the visit of the Indian delegation to Kabul for the first time since the taliban took control of Afghanistan, the US on Monday said India has its own interests in its relationship with the Taliban regime. The Taliban took over Afghanistan last year. According to India's External Affairs Ministry, a team led by J P Singh, senior diplomat for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran (PAI), had visited Afghanistan last week.There he met senior Taliban members and discussed with them about the assistance sent by India.

U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price told a news conference on Monday: "There are many countries around the world that have different interests in Afghanistan and that pursue their relationship with the Taliban based on those interests." Price said, "Similarly, India also has its own interests in its relationship with the Taliban regime. Different countries will have different kinds of relations with the Taliban. We have a team in Doha that is working to build taliban ties keeping in mind our interests.

Steps are also being taken to increase the pressure.

India does not have any formal diplomatic relations with the Taliban government, but its envoys have met Taliban representatives in Doha in the past. The Taliban has an office in Doha.

India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said that keeping in view the needs of the people of Afghanistan, India has so far sent 20,000 metric tonnes of wheat, 13 tonnes of medicines, five lakh doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines, warm clothes, etc.
