La Morada, Bronx

La Morada is a family-owned small and casual restaurant offering Oaxacan food. This small restaurant has also earned the James Beard nomination for the Outstanding Restaurant in 2020, so you know that it's one of the best in the city.

The restaurant is still working under Covid regulations, plus the place also serves as a center for social activism under the chef Natalia Mendez.

Their ever-famous dish is Mole chicken: the chicken meat is covered with the famous Oaxacan sauce, blended with seeds, fruits, and cocoa. You can also choose from the handmade huaraches and a plate of shrimp sautéed with cactus.

Casa Enrique, Long Island

The Casa Enrique is a 40 seat Mexican restaurant offering the regional cuisine of Cintalapa Chiapas. The chef Cosme Aguilar and the GM Luis Aguilar of this eatery are brothers, and to honor their mother, they had included many of her recipes in the menu.
Casa Enrique

Space itself is impressive and photogenic, and it is far from the hubbub of NoHo and Williamsburg Street to give you a serene space.

The specialty of Casa Enrique is mole over chicken and rice, and you can also opt for the sizzling plate of chicken enchiladas with salsa verde, or you can choose the classic fish tacos.

Address: 5-48 49th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101.

Cosme, Manhattan

Chef Enrique Olvera of Mexican city came to New York in 2014 and established cosmo with co-chef Daniel Soto-Innes.

The eatery interior is quite simple and sophisticated with small plant pots on the table. When selecting from the menu, never miss tasting their mezcal laced cocktail with duck carnitas.

Also, their lamb belly and the Uni tostadas are quite astonishing. You will for sure enjoy your time at Cosme with the complimentary starter of crackly blue-corn tortillas waiting for your order.

Address: 35 E 21st St, New York, NY 10010.

Taco Mix, Harlem & Lower East Side

Taco Mix is the city's best restaurant that makes amazingly crispy fresh tacos.
Taco Mix

The Taco mix launched its first cart nearly thirty years ago, and now it has chainlets at three locations (the Industry city chainlet is temporarily closed).

Taco Mix's claim to fame - Pastor tacos - a crispy tortilla with giant pineapple topped cone of meat with the perfect balance of tortilla to meat.

Address: 158 Delancey St, New York, NY 10002.

Oxomoco, Brooklyn

The prominent features of the Oxomoco are its white frontage, beautiful curved bar, and plants trailing from the ceiling.

The chef showing his tactics with the wood oven to the people sitting outside in the air scented with the wood-fired oven is a standout of Oxomoco.

This Mexican spot serves some traditional food as tender lamb barbacoa stuffed in tacos and roasted branzino. It also serves innovative plates like tacos filled with pork-cheek carnitas and tamal enveloped in Huja Santa sauce and antojitos.
