Escape the city with a day trip to Cold Spring, New York

The Nerdy Me

Cold Spring is a village in New York State, one of those underrated beauties that not many people know about, but whoever visits this village is taken aback by its beauty.

Avid travellers and people whose job consists of documenting their journey wherever they go have taken some breathtaking pictures and managed to videographer incredibly beautiful shots of this little village.

Cold Spring is located in the town of Philipstown in Putnam County. It is just about 1.5 hours drive from Manhattan and it is a well-known destination among those who enjoy a good hiking trip or an escape in nature.

The nearby Hudson River and forests make the village even more charming and attractive in the summer or spring months.

It is a perfect place to escape to when you want a bit of peace and calm after a hectic week in the city. Here are some of the things you can do in this small yet beautiful village that you might not have heard of.

Visit Little Stony Point

Little Stony Point is a beautiful point at which many people like to stop before they move to another location. If you crave to look at nature’s beauty, this little point is full of flowers, water, trees and whatnot.

You can catch the most beautiful view of the rise and set of the sun from there as well.

If you want to get there, you can take a short walk around the point to see every inch of it as the area is quite small, and it does not take long to explore the whole place.

Explore The Eateries

If you are a food lover, I know I already have your attention.

Cold Spring may be a small town but it sure has some of the best eateries in the area, some of which serve the most delicious food you will ever taste.

There are breakfast grills, restaurants for lunch and dinner, and bars for when you want to enjoy a drink or two while in Cold Spring.

Trying out different food places is a great way to explore the village and see what kind of food people eat here and what is commonly served. Some of the locals' favourites include Hudson Hil's, Moo Moo's Creamery and Hudson House.

Once Upon a Time Antiques

Once Upon a Time Antiques is an antique shop, as you can probably tell by the name.

They have a great collection of vintage pieces that you might want to check out, especially if you are a fan of collecting antiques. You do not necessarily have to buy something but visiting a place like this can be an experience in itself.

If you visit during the Covid-19 times, it would be good to buy something from the shop to help out as much as you can. This shop is highly recommended by the people who have visited them, so do not forget to make a stop while you are in Cold Spring!

Shopping on Main Street

Shopping is an important part of vacations, and while many focus on having a good experience rather than spend too much on shopping, buying a souvenir or two would not hurt anyone.

The main street has some fantastic shops that sell items at great prices. You can get items commonly used in the village by people or anything that will remind you of your time in Cold Spring.
